The best way to eliminate cross bores is to prevent them during Construction.
New Construction Cross Bore Inspections includes 2 parts (Pre Construction Inspections and Post Construction Inspections) to insure a safe trenchless installation.
1) Pre Construction Inspections - A pre construction inspection involves locating of existing pipes, marking of sewers, condition of pipes, identification of pipes, and Documentation.
Locating of Pipes - Documentation from both the Gas Utility and the Sewer Authority is essential to a successful elimination program. All sewers and laterals in possible conflict with the gas install should be CCTV and lateral launched.
Marking of Sewers - Mains and laterals are electronically located using sondes from the sewer camera. Green marking paint or flags are used to show direction of the pipe, depth and location. GPS can be used to document for future projects.
Condition of Pipes - Any existing damage to sewer lines should be documented to avoid damage complaints after the install.
Identification of Pipes - Sanitary, Storm and combination lines can be owned by several sewer authorities.
Documentation - Champion documents each stage of the cross bore elimination process. Line reports with locations and marked sewers are supplied to the gas install company for boring. Damaged sewers are documented and supplied to the sewer authority. Pre videos are copied into our database and hard copies are supplied to the Gas Utility.
2) Post Construction Inspections - A post construction inspection to verify that no sewers or laterals were damaged and no crossbores exist. A final CCTV inspection of the sewer lines ensures that no damage has been caused by the trenchless install and more importantly No crossbores exist.
